ASTM F1684 Invar 36 Bright Bar, UNS K93603 Hex Bar, UNS K93603 Black Bar, ASTM F1684 Invar 36 Triangle Bar, DIN 17745 Deformed Bar, Werkstoff Nr. 1.3912 Cold Drawn Bar, ASTM F1684 Invar 36 Threaded Bar, DIN 17745 Square Bar, DIN 17745 Peeled Round Bar, DIN 17745 Polished Bar, Werkstoff Nr. 1.3912 Hot Rolled Bar.
Invar 36 round bar is a nickel steel alloy with very low expansion when temperatures change. This makes it useful for precision parts with strict dimensions across various hot and cold conditions.
The “36” in ASTM F1684 Invar 36 Bright Bar refers to the composition – 36% nickel blended with iron. The high nickel content is key to achieving minimal expansion compared to ordinary steel. The metal demonstrates outstanding thermal stability from cryogenic levels up to approximately 400°F. Invar 36 is considerably stronger than other low-expansion alloys, making it also suitable for structural load-bearing uses.
Frames retain stiffness without sagging. Mounting plates avoid flex and keep devices perfectly positioned. Architectural applications take advantage of UNS K93603 Black Bar for curtain walls on skyscrapers. Vertical supports remain straight through seasonal swings of over 100°F. Glass panels stay neatly joined without openings appearing. Bridges use Invar components similar to winter ice and intense summer solar heat where ordinary steel would buckle.
For industrial lasers requiring massive stability, Invar makes up rigid platforms. Optics sit solidly aligned as heat builds up during equipment operation. The composition outperforms competing low-expansion materials here as well.
Circuit boards designed with Invar laminates or base layers prevent problems with connections loosening as electronics heat up and cool off repeatedly. They also reduce broken traces or solder joints prone to cracking more with cycling.
The outstanding temperature behaviour of DIN 17745 Square Bar, plus adequate strength for many structural uses, reduces the need to use fragile glass or inferior plastics to achieve stability.
