ASTM B335 Hastelloy B3 round bar is a metal alloy made up mostly of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium. This combination gives Hastelloy B3 excellent resistance to corrosion and pitting, especially in harsh chemical and ocean environments.
One of the main benefits of ASTM B335 Hastelloy B3 round bar is its superior resistance to localised corrosion compared to other nickel alloys. Even when exposed to chlorides and other chemicals that can cause corrosion, Hastelloy B3 holds up very well. Its ability to resist isolated attacks makes it a great choice for critical uses where fighting corrosion is crucial.
UNS N10675 Bar also shows impressive strength and hardness at normal and high temperatures. The strong engineering properties allow Hastelloy B3 parts and structures to be durable in elevated temperature service. Bars machined from Hastelloy B3 maintain high strength and a good bending ability when exposed to medium and high heat.
It’s also worth noting the excellent oxidation resistance of Hastelloy B3 alloy. It can take oxidising conditions up to 1200°F without too much damage. This level of oxidation resistance and good heat-related properties allow for reliable performance around hot combustion gases and exhaust.
Hastelloy B3 round bar machines are well and can be formed using typical methods for nickel alloys. When paired with matching filler metal, it can be welded adequately for most uses. Post-welding heat treatments might be needed for maximum ductility and toughness.
ASME SB335 Hastelloy B3 contains molybdenum and chromium balanced with nickel. The chromium provides oxidation resistance, while the molybdenum enhances corrosion protection. Small amounts of iron, cobalt and tungsten improve the mechanical properties. Silicon, manganese and carbon act to remove oxygen during melting.
