The Incoloy 900 plate is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy plate product. It has good corrosion and oxidation resistance properties. This makes it useful for many high-temperature applications. The plate has excellent resistance to carbon dioxide environments. It also resists sulfidation and other demands found in chemical processing.
The Incoloy alloy plate has good ductility and formability. It can be welded using common welding methods. The plate works well for cladding, brazing, and soldering applications. It maintains its strength after exposure to high temperatures. This allows it to work as an alternative to stainless steel in some situations.
The plate contains around 32% nickel, along with iron and chromium. Trace elements like aluminum, titanium, carbon, manganese, silicon, sulphur, and phosphorus are also present. The exact percentages vary between specific Incoloy 900 Diamond Plate alloys. However, the nickel content gives excellent resistance to scaling and corrosion issues.
The Incoloy 900 plate works very well in high-temperature heat exchangers. It resists corrosion in alcohols, ammonia, and organic acids. It also handles sulphur compounds, hydrogen, and synthesis gases effectively. This makes it a top choice for chemical processing equipment. It also suits furnace applications because of its heat resistance.
The plate can be used in a variety of industries. Petrochemical plants often use it for reforming furnaces. Acid plants in the chemical industry rely on it for towers, heat exchangers, and condensers. The electric power industry picks it for utility boilers and heat recovery steam generators. Other uses include heat-treating equipment, process piping, waste incinerators, and food-processing machinery.
The Incoloy alloy avoids embrittlement after exposure to high temperatures. It handles thermal cycling very well, making it suitable for repeated heating and cooling. This characteristic makes the UNS N09900 Clad Plate suitable for gate valves, wellhead control lines, and downhole tubing. It also works for nuclear fuel element sheathing and other high-radiation environments.
